Men’s Counselling & Psychotherapy Services

Stuart McVittie, Registered Social Worker (MSW)

Men and women’s symptoms of depression express differently, with men being more likely to demonstrate external behaviours, including addiction, violence, and acting out aggressively.

Are you feeling adrift? Men often feel that they should be able to handle everything by themselves. You don’t have to carry all the weight. Our men’s counselling services are built around real talk and practical tools in a comfortable environment. Whether it’s work pressures, relationship issues, fatherhood, feeling stuck, or something else, we provide support that’s tailored to the way you think and live.

Let’s talk about the pain you’re carrying.

Fatherhood Coaching

The role of men as parents has changed. Let’s talk about what being a good dad means to you.

Together we explore:

  • What it means to be a father
  • How to support and encourage your child’s development
  • How to manage the stresses of parenting, both with and without a co-parent

Depression and anxiety after the baby arrives also affects new dads, but there are few resources or services tailored to how these conditions specifically impact fathers. And talking about it is especially difficult for men. Together we can work on strategies that will help you manage this intense and extraordinary time.

Work & Talk Therapy

Talking openly can be difficult for men. Work & Talk Therapy is a form of psychotherapy that incorporates engaging together in an activity (e.g. woodworking, hiking, etc.) while addressing therapeutic goals and topics. The focus of the experience is therapy, not productivity. The main point is that the process can lead to significant changes in how you perceive the world and lead to real transformation.
